The Vision

Founded in 1999

First Choice Couriers was founded in 1999 by Lou Gencevski – a seasoned courier with years of experience in both Sydney and Wollongong, who took a bet on himself. With a vision to provide reliable and efficient transport solutions, Lou embarked on his entrepreneurial journey, starting with a single vehicle and a dedication to exceptional service.

Today, First Choice Couriers has grown into a leading transport and logistics company, by serving prestigious international and national organisations, and local individuals across the South Coast of NSW and beyond. With a commitment to our engaged and motivated team, as well as reliability, professionalism, and customer satisfaction, we continue to uphold the values instilled by our founder, while embracing innovation and growth in an ever-involving industry.

Our team consists of more than 130 experienced drivers, customer service, warehousing and administration team members who are all dedicated in delivering excellence in every aspect of our organisation.

Over The Years

At First Choice Couriers

1999

First Choice Freight Services PTY LTD was born after some 8-10 years as a sole trader in the Illawarra

2002

Appointed agents for Australia Air Express (now StarTrack Premium)

2006

Opened our first depot in the Southern Highlands and extended our network with Australian Air Express into the region

2008

We commenced as agents for Go Logistics for Wollongong and the Southern Highlands

2011

We were appointed agents for Freight Specialists of Australia and as the first regional agent for DHL Supply Chain. 2011 also saw our first prepaid coupon delivery.

2013

After the success of our prepaid coupons, we introduced prepaid satchels in 2013. We also commenced as delivery contractors for Australia Post in Kiama & Gerringong.

2014

2014 was a big year for First Choice Couriers, as we were appointed agents for Vellex, Couriers Please and DHL Express.

2015

With the formation of our partnership with DHL Express, 2015 was the year of our first international delivery.

2016

Throughout 2016, First Choice Couriers commenced as carriers for several clients, such as Blackwoods, Bullivants and BOC. We were also appointed as the preferred carrier for BlueScope Steel.

2017

At the start of 2017, an agreement was made to warehouse stock for various suppliers.

2018

This year was one of our biggest yet, with the opening of our new depot in Nowra. We appointed our first agent in Batemans Bay, servicing all the way to Bermagui on the South Coast of NSW. In conjunction with the achievements, we were appointed agents for Tamex.

2019

Extending further down the South Coast, we appointed our second agent allowing us to provide an overnight service Eden. In addition, we moved to a larger premises in Nowra and commenced as agents for Mainfreight.

2020

 In response to a growing demand, we expanded our operations by opening a second depot in Wollongong, enhancing our capacity and improving service efficiency.

2021

 We forged a partnership with Team Global Express, providing enhanced transport solutions to businesses and residents in the Southern Highlands region.

2022

Expanding our pick and pack warehousing service offerings, we began collaborating with CEVA Logistics and NBN to provide comprehensive inventory management and fulfilment services in Wollongong and the Shoalhaven.

2023

A milestone year for us, as achieved a company record by handling over 2.5 million items, demonstrating our commitment to efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

2024

Marking a significant milestone, we celebrate 25 years of Connecting People by Delivery Excellent Transport Solutions. In our celebration, we reflect on our journey and look forward to continued growth and success.

CHRISTMAS TRADING HOURS & SERVICE INFORMATION 2024

As we head into the busy Christmas

period, we’d like to announce 

some important information around our

Christmas trading hours and services.

 

PREPAID SERVICES

 

OVERNIGHT SYDNEY/WOLLONGONG

SERVICES

 

Monday 23rd December: This is the

last day to send Prepaid overnight

SYD/WOL deliveries for 2024.

Prepaid overnight SYD/WOL service

resumes on Monday 6th Jan 2025.

 

Alternative Options: The Saver, Premium

and Standard service options remain

available during the holiday

period.

 

SAME DAY SERVICES

 

 

Tuesday 24th December: This is the

last day for Same Day Deliveries

for 2024. Same Day service resumes on

Monday 6th Jan 2025.

 

 

SAVER, PREMIUM & STANDARD

SERVICES

 

These services remain available

throughout the Christmas & New Year

period, although we suggest allowing an

additional 1-2 days to usual transit times

due to changes with linehauls and

reduced staffing levels across

networks.

 

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

 

Our team are available usual business

hours (9am-5pm) throughout the

Christmas and New Year period, closed

on public holidays only.

We recommend checking if businesses

are closed or receivers are away prior

to sending, to help reduce redelivery

fees or freight being left unattended at

receiver addresses for extended periods.
